He Forgot

Have I become that sucker,

counting as time draws quicker,

hoping that he’ll remember?

Making way through casual callers,

most of whose wishes hardly matter,

wondering why he isn’t calling sooner?

Too quick to jump to conclusions,

let’s stumble upon a decision,

what’s my reaction if he forgets?

Will I feign indifference?

Or call him out on the face?

Don’t want to seem desperate!

It’s okay, I can keep to my toes,

while my ego rows,

decide whether this chapter will close.

Even river in its upper course,

which flows with such raging force,

branches in its lower course.

Too quick to jump to conclusions,

let’s stumble upon a decision,

what’ll be my reaction if he forgets?

Will I feign indifference?

Or call him out on the face?

Don’t want to seem desperate!

Hate to pretend like I don’t care,

boys have to feel a certain way.

Whine and win all you want,

before your youth is gone.

The candle decreases in size,

will he not call this time?

I shouldn’t have reached for the stars,

and kept those who cared close to the heart.

Will I feign indifference?

Or call him out on the face?

Don’t want to send wrong signals!

By now it’s clear, he forgot!
